New Hope School Opportunities:

• Tutor: For one hour /one day/ once a week volunteers are needed to meet with students at various grade levels. Times are flexible to your schedule. If you are interested in the tutoring opportunities, please download and complete the CARE Center Volunteer Application Form.
• Lunch Buddy/Mentor: Volunteers come once a week to have lunch or spend time with a child to build a relationship. Times are flexible to your schedule.
• CARE Packs: At the beginning of the school year The CARE Center helps provide school supplies to our Neighbors. If you are interested in helping with CARE Packs we have a team in place that can use your help.
• 5 week Reading Program for 2009: In the Fall, The CARE Center will organize a 5 week reading program at New Hope Elementary. Volunteers are needed anywhere from dropping off treats for the children to reading aloud.
• Teacher Goodies: We are in need of volunteers to make and take teachers goodies to let them know we CARE throughout the school year.
• Teacher Birthdays: Volunteers are needed to make and take teachers a little treat on their birthdays.

Adopt-A-Grandparent Opportunities:

• Home Visits: This includes visiting our ‘grandparent’ at their homes to form a caring and beneficial relationship.
• Transportation: At times our ‘grandparents’ need to be transported to a doctor’s appointment or to run errands.
• Making Crafts/Gifts: Volunteers are needed to make and take crafts or gifts to our ‘grandparents’ to let them know we CARE.
• Holiday Baskets: Volunteers are needed to make and take gift baskets to ‘grandparents’ on special holidays throughout the year.

Food Pantry Volunteers:
The CARE Center Food Pantry is open on Wednesdays from 9am-Noon, Thursdays from 3pm-6pm, and Saturdays from 9am-Noon. You may sign up for any day that you can come help.

• Emergency Food Shopper: When The CARE Center Food Pantry is low on food, we need volunteers to make shopping trips to purchase food. This is an on-call basis. Shoppers will be reimbursed.
• Scripture Cards: The CARE Center hands out encouraging scripture cards to our Neighbors when they come into the Food Pantry. When we are low on scripture cards, we need volunteers to make and bring more to The CARE Center.
• Food Bank Loading/Unloading: The CARE Center makes periodic trips to the Food Bank to purchase food for our Neighbors. We need volunteers to load and unload our trailer. This is on an on-call basis.

Summer Camp Scholarships:
During the summer The CARE Center sponsors children from local county schools to attend summer camps. We are in need of volunteers to help organize these students during this time. Fundraisers:

• Tour of Restaurants: The CARE Center would like to create a relationship with local restaurants to support The CARE Center. We are in need of volunteers to be an Organizer, Assistant Organizers, and Helpers.
• Food Drives: The CARE Center is in need of non-perishable food items at all times. We would like to form a team of volunteers to stimulate food drives throughout the year. This could be done at anytime and with any group or local business.
• Annual Gala Event: The CARE Center would like to host a Gala Fundraising event. If you have an interest in being an Organizer, Assistant Organizer, or a Helper, we would love to hear from you.
• Annual 5K: Every year, The CARE Center organizes an Annual 5K Run/Walk. We are in need of helpers for this event. We will need volunteers for sign-ups, refreshments, timers, and more.
• Annual Golf Tournament: Every year, The CARE Center hosts a golf tournament here in Huntsville. We are in need of volunteers to be an Organizer, Assistant Organizer, or a Helper.

Other:

• Administrative Help: At times The CARE Center is in need of some extra hands to complete office tasks. This would be on an as needed basis.
• Newsletter Help: The CARE Center sends out quarterly newsletters to our Friends. We are in need of volunteers to help label, stuff, and fold envelopes.
• Technology Help: The CARE Center is going to have a computer lab at our new building and we are in need of volunteers to help set-up and maintain our units.
• Job Board: The CARE Center helps provide our Neighbors with job opportunities locally and throughout Huntsville. We need volunteers to help search for jobs on a monthly basis.
