 | Linda McWilliams Linda was born and raised in Huntsville, a rare native. She is married and has a son in college at Alabama- Roll Tide! She has a Bachelor of Social Work and Business Administration from University of North Alabama. She worked for 30 years and retired from the TARCOG Area Agency on Aging. Linda was raised by an elderly father (64 when she was born) who upon retiring did their church’s social/outreach services. Helping others has always been a part of her life. As the founder of the CARE Center, her favorite Bible verse is about Jesus telling Simon Peter to "Feed My Sheep". She took this literally and it was this concept, working with Cove Church's John Tanner, and other local churches that the CARE Center was born. It was felt the one common factor people of all faiths have is to serve others through Jesus Christ, regardless of denomination or church affiliation. It was believed if we could meet needs of food for neighbors we serve, The CARE Center could then open the door to provide other services such as tutoring, financial assistance, school supplies, services to the elderly, thrift shop, etc. She has always prayed that God would give her a bulletin board to tell her what to do in life – so, for her, that bulletin board is the CARE Center, where she feels His spirit and sees His footsteps. | | Vicki Cather Vicki is married to Mark Cather and was born and raised on a farm in northern Delaware. After retiring from State Farm Insurance and moving to FL, she felt called to assist the elderly. While in FL she was active with Meals on Wheels and FISH, a non-profit, transportation service organization for the elderly. Since moving to Alabama 3 years ago, she has continued serving through Meals on Wheels, volunteering at the CARE Center and assisting with Angel Food Ministries at New Hope UMC. Her calling comes from her paraphrase of Luke 12:48 - "To those that much is given, much is required". My paraphrase is - 'To those that much is forgiven, much is required'. The Lord has given me life, so I try to give some light to the lives of those I meet through these organizations. | | | Amy Cleary Amy is another Huntsville native who has enjoyed serving at the CARE Center for many years. She has been a member of Cove United Methodist since 1997 participating in various ministries including children, students, adult small groups and, most recently, local missions. Both Amy and her husband graduated from Auburn and enjoy attending football games with their two children, Brett and Courtney. The verse that motivates her heart for ministry at the CARE Center is 2 Corinthians 8:13, 14. Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, | | Lisa May Lisa has a B.S. degree in Biology from UNC at Wilmington. She started volunteering with the Care Center as a lunch buddy for two eighth grade girls in 2008. Based on what these girls were going through and her own experiences as a middle schooler/teenager she felt led by the Lord to start Sisters of Faith in November, 2009. The Lord has provided a great number of resources including the wise counsel of Godly women who help guide the direction of Sisters of Faith. Lisa believes that helping others through painful experiences by modeling grace and forgiveness also helps heal our own hearts. | | |
